About Kagay & Schellhaas

We are a Certified Public Accounting firm based in Columbus, OH and were founded in the late 1930's by Edmund M. Kagay. Rodger W. Schellhaas, CPA, joined the firm in 1968 and is the senior partner in the firm. Jeffrey C. Schellhaas, CPA, joined the firm in 1990 upon graduating from The Ohio State University.

While we provide a wide range of accounting and tax services to a variety of clients, our primary focus is working with family and closely held business to handle their tax compliance and planning. We also work with our clients and their other advisors in the areas of estate and succession planning; including family wealth transfer, preservation planning, charitable giving, and retirement planning.

Our clients have gross volume ranging from $50K to $125 million per year. We have considerable experience in dealing with a wide range of financial and tax issues.

Rodger W. Schellhaas, CPA is the senior partner in the public accounting firm of Kagay & Schellhaas CPA's and has been in practice 43 years. Rodger joined the firm in 1968, became a partner in 1978 and subsequently purchased the firm. While the firm provides a wide range of accounting and tax services to a variety of clients, one of his area of focus is serving closely held businesses and their owners in the development of their estate and succession plan, including family wealth transfer and preservation planning, charitable giving, retirement planning, and income tax planning. He is a member of The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Edmund Marriott (Ned) Kagay, deceased

Born August 29, 1912. Died July 18, 1995.

Mr. Kagay became a Certified Public Accountant on July 27, 1934, and was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio on August 5, 1937. After those respective dates, he practiced as a sole proprietor, both as a Certified Public Accountant and as an Attorney at Law.

Mr. Kagay founded Kagay & Schellhaas, CPAs in the late 1930's.
